South Africa

South Africa is known for diversity – magnificent wildlife reserves, beautiful landscapes, vibrant cities and an array of cultures. The country has excellent weather throughout the year, characterised by long, sunny summers and mild winters.
A visit to South Africa is incomplete without a stop at one of the country’s stunning beaches.
Visitors can see some of the finest wildlife on the African continent, including the Big Five game, which consists of Lion, Leopard, African Elephant, Cape Buffalo and White Rhinoceros.
The diversity of cultures , languages, ethnicities and religious beliefs that are the hallmarks of South Africa are recognised in the country’s constitution. Eleven official languages are spoken and the nation comprises people of San (or Bushman), Nguni, Sotho-Tswana, Tsonga, Venda, Indian, English, Afrikaner, mixed origin, and immigrant communities from all corners of the globe. English is the most commonly spoken language in public life, but only the fifth most-spoken home language.
Each of these cultures boasts delicious cuisine – Indian bunny chow, the Afrikaner-inspired boerewors, braai (or barbeque), biltong, koeksisters and rusks and the mopane worms of the Pedi people are a mere glimpse of the gastronomic delights that await visitors. South African wine is of world-class and a visit to the Western Cape is incomplete without a stop at the Cape Winelands area.
South Africa’s past is characterised by discord and division, yet the country has emerged as one where disparate cultures live in harmony and a multitude of museums, monuments and galleries commemorate the country’s distinctive history.
