Mozambique Mozambique

Mozambique is known for its white unspoilt sandy beaches, scuba diving, prawns, cashew nuts and many more.

The name "Mozambique" is thought to come from the Swahili Musa al Big, the name of an ancient Arab sheikh, ("chief") who lived on the northern Ilha de Moçambique. The terrain ranges from rain forests and swamps to mountains, grasslands, sand dunes, and beaches.

The Zambezi River is an important natural resource, supplying power through the Cahora Bassa dam, one of Africa's largest hydroelectric projects. The Zambezi flows west to east and divides the country into northern and southern regions that differ, to some extent, in terms of culture and history as well as climate.
